This panel is the first panel from a three-piece painting called Three Wooden Crosses. It shows a bold American Eagle flying along the French Broad River in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, NC.

I used to live next to this river and often saw eagles gliding along the river in the morning. I also loved the way the cloud shadows would flow over the mountaintops, so I included a shadow here. This image was created to be restful yet uplifting.
