Inspired by a Favorite Hymn
This painting, "The Master of the Sea," is a dramatic depiction of the moment Jesus calmed a raging storm with a simple rebuke.
You can find the story in three of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) and we also see this delightful reference in Psalm 107:28-31
28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
31 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
I named this painting after a hymn called "The Master of the Sea" which my church's congregation loves to sing. My hope is that it brings you a daily reminder of the peace that only Christ can bring in times of trouble.
