This painting is dedicated to anyone who truly loves America.
It was inspired by the famous Walking Liberty coin, which many collectors consider to be the most beautiful coin minted in the USA.
In the original coin, Liberty is depicted as victorious. She is clad in armor and striding toward the sunrise. In her arms are branches of laurel and oak, which symbolize victory in war and peacetime.
My version is altered to show Liberty as repentant, because I truly believe that what America needs is to repent and return to our faith in Christ.
Her hair is loose and her feet are bare, which signifies sorrow and regret, and she walks away from the sins which she was once chained to.
There's even a little painting of Hell with a demon, which she steps over.
On the other side of the painting, she reaches toward the Morning Star which signifies Christ...
...and she walks toward the sunrise of a new day, and toward a little country church.
The original also has a hand-painted decorative edge with 144 stars (twelve times twelve) which symbolizes the city of Heaven and the promises of God toward His people.
Here's another view of the original, which is slightly larger than the largest print.
The round prints cost a bit more than my usual rectangular ones, but they really make an interesting effect in a room. Round art has ancient antecedents, all the way back to ancient Greece and Egypt, and there's a reason it has persisted over time.
